About New Mexico Turn Around

It's Formation

NMTA was founded in 2001 as a New Mexico Nonprofit Corporation. NMTA is also a “Political Committee” operating under the jurisdiction of the New Mexico Secretary of State’s Office. NMTA, as a nonprofit corporation, files corporate reports with the New Mexico Public Regulation Commission. As a Political Committee operating within the State of New Mexico it also files campaign reports as required by Secretary of State’s Office. Under federal tax law NMTA enjoys tax exempt status under IRS Code Section 527. Upon its formation NMTA filed form 8871 with the IRS. NMTA’s initial Board of Directors were Michael Campbell of Santa Fe, Jesus Salazar of Albuquerque, Garth Simms of Albuquerque, Abenicio Sisneros of Belen and Harvey Yates, Jr. of Albuquerque. Of this Board two were registered as Democrats, two were registered as Republicans and one was an Independent.
